

In Fireware v12.5.2 and higher, the Firebox configuration can be backed up and restored using WatchGuard Cloud. In Fireware v12.3 and higher, you can designate a backup image saved on the USB drive as the backup image to restore automatically when your Firebox is in recovery mode. Backup images saved to a USB drive can include the Fireware OS. You can also save backup images to a connected USB drive. Backup images saved in Fireware v12.2 and lower include the Fireware OS and are saved to a location off the Firebox. We recommend that you also regularly save a backup image of your Firebox before you make significant changes to your configuration.īackup images saved in Fireware v12.2.1 and higher do not include the Fireware OS and are saved directly to the Firebox. In Fireware v12.2.1 and higher, when you upgrade the version of Fireware OS on your Firebox, a backup image is saved to the Firebox automatically. Backup images include the configuration file, certificates, passphrases, feature key, and other information unique to your Firebox.

For most users, we recommend using an external hard drive connected to the computer as a backup drive. Select where you want to save the backup.In the File History window, click the System Image Backup link in the bottom-left corner.From the Start screen, type File History and select File History settings in the search results.Unless you already have one, we recommend creating this disc, as it will be used to boot your computer and allow you to restore the system image.

After the backup is complete, you are given a prompt to create a system repair disc.If your backup is larger than 4 GB, you must be using a drive with NTFS and not FAT or FAT32.
